Ji Seok Ju has been the pastor of First United Methodist Church of Valley Center since July 1, 2015. This is his fourth pastoral appointment in the Great Plains Conference. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, a Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary. He and his wife Ara have two children Jeffrey and Jenna. “Knowing God,” “Growing in Grace,” and “Going in Love” is what God has called us to do. Brian Potillo is director of youth ministries. He is a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loves all kinds of music. He and his wife Audrey have two sons. Brian started at FUMC in July 2002. Every summer, he leads the youth group on a Week of Hope mission trip somewhere in the United States.
Phoebe McCormick is the director of education at FUMCVC. Phoebe was raised in the church, and she and her husband, Mike, were married at FUMC. Phoebe teaches second grade at Wheatland Elementary School. “I feel my two careers allow me to do two things that I feel very passionate about: teaching kids to love learning and teaching them to love God!” Phoebe and Mike have three daughters.
Amy Stamm became the administrative assistant on December 15, 2008. Before starting work at FUMCVC, she was with Roadway Express for 14 years. She is a first-generation graduation of the University of Kansas and an avid Jayhawk fan. She and her husband, Matt, have a son and daughter.
Melissa Hackett is the business administrator.
Mike McCormick is the music director for both the traditional and contemporary services. He is the high school vocal music instructor at Valley Center High School.
